Origins Of Hiphop 5 is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 4pm-10pm at Smoke’d On The Water (3 Fifth St. Racine, WI 53403). Admission is free, though, we will be collecting donations to ensure this event continues for years to come. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Limited edition Origins Of Hiphop 5 Shirts will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Graf artists may be willing to part with their respective creations, if your incentive suits them. Our aim is to highlight the individual elements of Hiphop Kulture, as outlined in the Hiphop Declaration of Peace: Breakin, Emceein, Graf, Deejayin, Beatboxin, Street Fashion, Street Language, Street Knowledge and Street Entrepreneurialism or Street Trade!
This year’s event organizers are Caleb Robinson, Dario Wilson a.k.a. DJ Chocolate Boy Wonder, Dee Hutch, Nick Ramsey, and Willy Reynoso. Origins Of Hiphop 5 partners are Black Hand Tattoo, Christi Beerntsen, College of Arts and Humanities at UW-Parkside, Downtown Racine Corporation, Family Power Music, Racine Public Library, Smoke’d On The Water, Sweatshop Movement, and Willy’s Sole Kitchen. This event is also supported in part by a grant from Racine Arts Council’s ArtSeed Grants Program, which is funded by The Osborne and Scekic Family Foundation and Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from State of Wisconsin.
